It’s -3C, which isn’t cold really.
Granted not nearly enough as many in America and probably a lot of Canada would look at it and go, ‘oh that’s cute, you think that’s snowing heavier’.
While our cousins in the southern hemisphere laugh it up, ye’, you know who I’m talking to.
But we in my city don’t get snow like this. Two miles outside the city it can be arctic conditions while in the city it’s just cold and raining.
So this is an absolute ball-ache.

Just got a bunch here in southern denmark too. 20cm, loose and fluffy stuff. spent 45 minutes parked on the main road before turning around, probably due to people having no idea how to drive. 10km away in city? There’s nothing...

It’s crazy how that happens.
You can drive up the M6 motorway in the U.K. and you can tell when you’ve crossed over from Lancashire into Cumbria, not from the road signs but by the clouds. It can be glorious sunshine in Lancashire and then you drive into Cumbria and the sky is grey and overcast, or literally just a blanket of rain, look in your rear view mirror and you can still make out the sunshine back in Lancashire.

It’s currently near -20 °C here in south Finland but we haven’t gotten any fresh snow.

I’m alright with -20C, I just put a coat on.
Thankfully I’m not back in work for at least another week using up holidays but I want to get some cars cleaned and not just sit in front of the TV and computer all of it.

This temperature isn’t so bad. I’m still commuting with a bicycle.

Now 2 hours later even sis complained about getting down here in a Rav4. Also just cleared up again after yet another snow shower and it’s bright and sunny now..

This is what I’m contending with. Dull sky and three inches of snow.

And ofcourse the Skoda is shiny as always. I take it all the Nano and other stuff really helps the snow slide right off?

No Nano, just Si02.
It was starting to look grubby with traffic film after a month without a wash but the snow has taken the dirt off.

I live in Canada, it was +12 out yesterday.

I’m assuming like our Southern cousins in the US you have little to no infrastructure to deal with snow ( e.g. sand, salt and plows)

We have gritters and snow ploughs but we have 80,000 miles of roads in England and Wales alone (225,000 miles for the whole of the U.K.) so we don’t have a large number of machines nor do we get snow often enough to warrant the massive expense on buying, maintaining and storing the machines.

Those are some cool looking snow plows.

That’s why you need to retrofit those harvesters!

about -5 here at mo... most of the snow missed us tho... just had some flurrys
and because we’re dutch over here a couple nights of cold is enough to give the whole country ice skating fever (translation we’re keeping the rescue services busy by going through the ice left right and center... one dead so far)
think ill go for a skate in a bit :)

The Unimog U500 is a modular vehicle and can be used for fire and rescue as well as county council gritter work.
There are others, as our county adds to as and when they can afford them.

On top of county contractors their are volunteers from farmers to individuals who go out in council vehicles.
Troutbeck.
Local community volunteers who own their own or village has bought.
Nenthead.

It’s going back and forth between light and heavy flurries.
Sorry to hear of the death.
Many of the once in storage Land Rover Defenders are now out on mass today.
Many of the off road clubs come out to loan their vehicles or drive necessary people around such as carers, elderly home care, etc...

gives the car a bit of excercise and helping those in need
win win :)

It’s when our county really comes together, floods, storms and heavy snow.
Even train companies come together or waiver fares to help those affected.
